New to the Blog…
"Peace"…
Do you remember this old Coca Cola commercial… “I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony. I’d like to buy the world a coke and keep it company”? It is the very first thing I think of every time I hear the word “peace” during the Christmas season. Apparently, the commercial really made an impression on 3-year-old Dana! I think what made it stand out to me was the vocal harmony singing about harmony.
Let's talk about constipation (what your medical provider wants you to know)...
A busy schedule, travel, and changes in eating patterns can disrupt your GI system during the holiday season. Smart choices and thinking ahead can prevent gut issues. Let’s talk about it!
To function well, your gut needs water, fiber, and exercise consistently. With all the extra activities and responsibilities of the Christmas season we tend to neglect all three of these areas. Combined with increases in stress, your GI system can respond in all sorts of unpleasant ways. Making a plan and sticking with it can help.
Here are a few tips:
Stay well hydrated. Set a timer with a reminder if necessary.
Keep it moving. Big surprise here…WALKING keeps your bowels moving and your stress down.
Don’t forget the fiber. Eat your veggies and fruits!
Avoid grazing on junk - you will run out of room for real food.
Avoid ultra-processed foods with no nutritional value.
Consistency is key. Small, healthy choices compound.
Limit your sugar intake.
Restorative rest. Do things you enjoy and bring you life.
Enjoy the season but stick to your routine whenever possible. Keep up with your Bible reading and prayer time. Stick to your normal bedtime.

CHRISTmas!
Some friends and I have been sharing our family Christmas music traditions. Through this discussion, I was reminded of the Point of Grace Christmas Album “A Christmas Story”. This song is one of my favorites from the album.

But GOD!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
