Why a Christ-centered, Biblical approach?

Updated: Aug 8

Genesis 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning God”. He is our literal origin, our “genesis” if you will. He has never not been. We, however, have a starting point as noted in the creation account, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”. (Genesis 1:27) The forever God created us in His image. Further into the creation account, Genesis 1:31 tells us, “God saw all that he had made, and it was VERY GOOD”. We were created by the God who has always been, in His image, and what He created is “very good.”. Psalms 139:14 states, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Yes, we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” but we are so because we have been created in the image of God.

In His infinite wisdom, God knew the fall would occur and sin would enter the world. Yet, He loved us anyway and always had a plan to restore us back to Him. Through the scriptures, God reminds us in Jeremiah 1:5, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.". You are fully known yet fully loved. The well-known John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”. Moreover, Romans 5:8 reminds us, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”. God sent His “one and only son” to die for me, a sinner!?!  Unbelievable or as John so eloquently puts it in 1 John 3:1, “What great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!”. Amazing!!!

Sister, be encouraged!!! Before He formed you-He knew you; you have been created in His image-fearfully and wonderfully; the creator Himself called you "VERY GOOD"; you are His child-loved to the point of death despite your sin. This forgiveness is given freely to those who "declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead" Romans 10:9. "You will be saved" (Romans 10:9) and you "will never be put to shame" (Romans 10: 11). If this isn't you, if you haven't trusted the Lord with the forgiveness of your sins, you can today. As God's children, our security rests in who He is and what He has done. True "wellness" starts here, living rooted in the knowledge you are seen, known and loved by the Almighty God who can be trusted. As His image “bearers”, our reflection will always be “off” if we are not first centered on Him. He is the hub from which all other areas of our lives extend. Centering our lives on anything other than His Truth will always leave us unwell-incomplete and longing.
