Notes on the 23rd Psalm

My dad is a retired pastor. While recently flipping through a storage box from his old office, I found notes someone had given him on the 23rd Psalm.  He does not recall who shared these with him.

Here is what I found (with a few additions and adjustments):

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, (He is the source of perfect salvation.)

I lack nothing. (He is the source of perfect satisfaction.)

He makes me lie down in green pastures, (He is the source of perfect rest.)

He leads me beside quiet waters, (He is the source of perfect refreshment.)

He refreshes my soul. (He is the source of perfect restoration.)

He guides me along the right paths (His guidance is perfect.)

For his name’s sake. (He is our perfect purpose.)

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, (He is the source of perfect peace.)

For you are with me; (He is the perfect companion.)

Your rod and your staff, (His protection is perfect.)

They comfort me. (His compassion is perfect.)

You prepare a table before me (His provision is perfect.)

In the presence of my enemies. (His justice is perfect.)

You anoint my head with oil; (We have been perfectly chosen.)

My cup overflows. (He is the source of perfect joy.)

Surely your goodness and love will follow me (He provides perfect care.)

All the days of my life, (His faithfulness is perfect.)

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord (With him, there is perfect eternity.)

Forever.  (In him, there is perfect completion.)

You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you. Isaiah 26:3 CSB
