Body & Soul

Your body is good (Genesis 1:31) and it is a gift (James 1:17). The intricacies with which God created you should always leave you in awe & wonder of Him. As such, appropriate care and attention given

to your health and wellness honors God when done as an offering of worship. He is honored by lifestyle choices made with an attitude of thanksgiving and proper perspective.

We will be better equipped to serve Him if we take proper care of ourselves, “spirit, soul, & body”.  As Ephesians 6:15 teaches us, our feet should be "fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace".  When we are thriving, we are better prepared to “therefore go” as commissioned in Matthew 28:19.

However, we cannot neglect the “one thing necessary” as Jesus taught Martha in Luke (10:42).  Our relationship with our Heavenly Father should always come first as we are reminded in 1 Timothy 4:7b-8, “Rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

A right relationship with God overflows into a right relationship with yourself and others. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22) When we follow the “greatest command” and “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength” the fruit produced allows us to “Love your neighbor as yourself”. (Mark 12:30-31)

“Take care of your body as if you were going to live forever; and take care of your soul as if you were going to die tomorrow.” Saint Augustine
